Resident Evil Requiem Is The Best-Selling Game Of 2026 In The US So Far

Circana’s Mat Piscatella has revealed in a post on BlueSky that Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem is the year’s best-selling game in the US so far, and biting at its heels is Crimson Desert, which despite having lukewarm reviews has already sold five million copies worldwide.
Resident Evil Requiem launched at the end of February and in just a few weeks had sold six million copies worldwide, becoming the fastest selling instalment in the 30-year-old survival horror franchise to date. While we’re on the subject of Capcom, Pragmata, the publisher’s new sci-fi adventure, was the second best selling video game in the US for April 2026 – a very impressive feat for a new IP to say the least.
Crimson Desert also made third place on the list of best-selling video games for that month, while MLB The Show 26 and Windrose also put in an appearance. In terms of year-to-date performances, MLB The Show 26 ranks third, followed by Pokemon Pokopia and WWE 2K26.
Resident Evil Requiem is now available for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S. The game takes place around 28 years after the events of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and sees returning hero Leon S. Kennedy and FBI agent Grace Ashcroft investigating a series of mysterious deaths related to the T-Virus outbreak of 1998. You can read our full review here.
