Marathon Budget Is Reportedly Over 0 Million

According to a report on Forbes, the development budget for Bungie’s Marathon is over $200 million, likely going upwards of $250 million excluding ongoing maintenance costs and new content drops.

The report offers a number of stats on Marathon in the month following its launch, including the figure of 478,000 daily active user count in its first weekend being near-accurate, although noting this has dropped to around 345,000 recently. Forbes also states that the game is now the 106th most-played game on Xbox, and while PS5 data is not available, Marathon charted on the Top 10 list at launch.

Meanwhile, it is stated that the Cryo Archieve endgame activity that released on March 20 saw an uptick in players “only slightly above that of a normal weekend increase.” Furthermore, reports that the game sold 1.2 million units across all platforms are “close to accurate.”

Marathon was released on March 5, 2026 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. Late last month, Bungie stated that it intends to offer ‘many years of steady improvements‘ for Marathon, with its latest update arriving a few days ago.
