New The Lord Of The Rings Games Is Reportedly In The Works At Kingdom Come Deliverance Devs

Warhorse Studios, the developer behind Kingdom Come Deliverance and its sequel, is reportedly working on the previously–rumoured new The Lord of the Rings game.
The Lord of the Rings project was previously outed last September in a report on Insider Gaming, which claimed the Abu Dhabi Investment Office is funding close to $100 million for the project, and is described as a third-person action game similar to Hogwarts Legacy.
Speaking in a ResetEra post, user hiberner toujours stated that Ryszard Chojnowski, a veteran of the games industry with 27 years experience under their belt, revealed on a podcast that he has heard that the Lord of the Rings title is indeed in the works at Warhorse Studios. Here’s the full post:
A couple months ago Insider Gaming made a report about UAE investing 100 million dollars into a new, open world Lord of the Rings game worked on by one of Embracer Group studios (which hold rights to LotR games) codenamed ‘Revenge Studios.’
A few days ago there was a podcast where a Polish industry veteran Ryszard Chojnowski revealed that he has heard from credible sources that the studio working on that game is in fact Warhorse Studios, makers of Kingdom Come Deliverance, and also owned by Embracer. Apparently, he heard it a couple months ago already and didn’t believe it, but there have been more whispers about it recently.
Embracer Group has owned the rights to The Lord of the Rings since 2022, and in May 2025 the industry giant announced a major shakeup for its gaming division, which featured a rebranding of Middle-Earth and Friends to Fellowship Entertainment. This includes The Lord of the Rings, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Metro, and Dead Island among others.
