Future Assassin’s Creed Games Will Likely See ‘Quite A Few Things’ Carry Over From Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Says Art Director

Thierry Dansereau, Assassin’s Creed Shadows Art Director, has revealed during an interview with IGN that some of the elements that were introduced in 2025’s action-adventure game will make their way to future instalments.
Discussing Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Dansereau noted how it’s a “collective challenge” working on the franchise, as so many people are involved in it. They also noted that a lot of the tech they’ve produced in Shadows will likely “become legacy for future ACs.”
I’m proud that we shipped the game! It’s quite a challenge, and with Assassin’s Creed, there are a lot of people involved, so it’s a collective challenge. I was at DICE not so long ago, and shipping any game is a small miracle, according to all developers. It’s quite a challenge, and with Assassin’s Creed there are a lot of people involved, so it’s a collective challenge.
The legacy, I think, is we’ve pushed quite a lot of things: we’ve improved parkour, stealth. Fighting, we’ve pushed certain elements of it. In all the systems, we’ve guided a lot of technology in the game that I think will become legacy for future ACs. There are quite a few things that will make their way through (to upcoming games).
As we look to the future of Assassin’s Creed, we know that Ubisoft has the medieval-set Assassin’s Creed Hexe in development, which last we heard is likely targeting a Holiday 2027 release and features an overhauled combat system. According to previous reports about the title, it is set to be the darkest entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise yet.
Ubisoft announced in February this year that Clint Hocking, the creative director on Assassin’s Creed Hexe, had departed the company but stressed that development for Hexe is continuing “with a seasoned team.”
