A Minecraft Movie Sequel Casts Kirsten Dunst As Alex

Kirsten Dunst, best known for her roles in Interview with The Vampire and the original Spider-Man films starring Tobey Maguire, has landed a part in the upcoming A Minecraft Movie sequel, where she’ll be playing an avatar known as Alex.

Returning from the original movie will be Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Danielle Brooks, Matt Berry, and Jennifer Coolidge. Few details are available on the plot of the film, the first Minecraft movie was a huge success at the worldwide box office, taking in nearly one billion dollars and grossing $163 million domestically for its opening weekend.

A Minecraft Movie sequel is being directed by Jared Hess, who also helmed the original movie, and features a script penned by Chris Galletta. Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Roy Lee, Eric McLeod, Kayleen Walters, Torfi Frans Ólafsson, Momoa, and the late Jill Messick are serving as producers.

Warner Bros. Has confirmed that the Minecraft movie sequel will arrive on July 23, 2027.
