Juicy Stardew Valley 1.7 details are here, thanks to the anniversary livestream, including two new romance options

As we sail past the 10th anniversary on February 26, we’ve been contemplating what this could portend for the Stardew Valley 1.7 update, and perhaps beyond. Despite feeling like time is getting away from us and that the last decade has disappeared super quickly, we’re ready to welcome the tenth year of Pelican Town’s existence.
ConcernedApe himself posted a YouTube video, which gives us details on the anniversary and the anticipated update. The video sees ConcernedApe “go over some old builds of the game [with] commentary, briefly go over the many updates, [and] give a special message to the players”, including very early footage from as far back as 2012.
We knew that the Stardew Valley 1.7 update was happening, and that it brings TWO new marriage candidates, but details were thin – until now.
Stardew Valley update 1.7 release date speculation
The Stardew Valley 1.7 update is currently “in the works”, so we don’t have a date for when it will go live. There’s currently no confirmation whether the update will or will not release on Nintendo Switch and PC at the same time.
Who are the new Stardew Valley marriage candidates?
Finally, we get an expansion to the available marriage candidate roster. In this big new update, there are two new options. They are Clint, the blacksmith, and Sandy, who works in the Oasis.
While we were hoping to romance the Wizard, Gunther, Marlon, or perhaps Marnie – we’ll get right on wooing Sandy. The mysterious museum curator and man from the mine could do with some more content, especially Gunther, as we only ever see him behind the counter. With a hat that snazzy, he deserves more screen time.
Stardew Valley update 1.7 features
While details are still slim, we do know that in the next update, we’ll be getting a few new additions and updates.
So far, we know of the following:
- Two new marriage candidates (Clint and Sandy)
- One new farm layout
After the 1.6 update added new festivals, NPC dialogue, a farm type, skill mastery, and the entirety of Ginger Island, we do have high hopes for 1.7 – but even the new eligible bachelor or bachelorette has us stoked.
