Rumour – Horizon 3 Is Still A Long Way Off As ‘Most Of The Studio’ Is Working On Horizon Hunters Gathering
Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has commented on BlueSky that the as-yet unannounced Horizon 3 is still a long way off from release, following news that the company is working on co-op title Horizon Hunters Gathering.
When asked if he knew whether the team behind Horizon Hunters Gathering was separate from the one tackling Horizon 3, Schreier replied, “I believe most of the studio is on this [Horizon Hunters Gathering].” Furthermore, quizzed if the third entry in the franchise was still a long way off at this point, he simply responded, “Yup.”
Guerrilla Games hasn’t announced Horizon 3 yet, but Schreier had previously commented on the game back in September 2024, where he told the Spawn Wave podcast that the project was still a ways off as Guerrilla was working on an online Horizon as its next product. Jump to May last year, and leaker TCMF stated that a third Horizon game is in the works and could launch in 2027, hinting a possible cross-generation release on PS5 and PS6.
It’s now been four years since the release of the last mainline Horizon game, Horizon Forbidden West, which arrived for PS5 & PS4 in February 2022.
