Carmageddon: Rogue Shift Is Bringing Its ‘Brutal Roguelite’ To Xbox Next Week

We’re already busy prepping our Next Week on Xbox article for next week, and one game that’s standing out to us in the list is Carmageddon: Rogue Shift — a return of the classic vehicular combat series that debuted back in 1997.

This version of Carmageddon looks and sounds pretty ambitious, taking the form of a roguelite where you’ll enter destruction races with basically nothing at first, and you’ll have to upgrade your vehicles, weapons and add new perks as you progress.

Here’s a bit about how the campaign works:

Every Campaign run offers a unique journey through a randomly generated graph. Win Events and smash opponents to gain Credits. Maneuvers such as killing Wasteds, drifts, jumps, and flicks also grant rewards. Strategically plan your route so you can reach Shops. In these safe havens you can repair your car, swap weapons, or install one of the 80+ unlockable perks. Adapt to the dynamically increasing difficulty and conquer elite events and bosses.

With branching paths, varied objectives, and ever-changing time-of-day and weather conditions, no two runs are the same. But the Carmageddon ain’t over when your vehicle is wrecked. Another driver will step up, and the challenge will resume anew, in a typical roguelite loop.

Sounds interesting, right? You can check out some gameplay of Carmageddon: Rogue Shift in the trailer at the top of this article, and we’re cautiously optimistic by what we’re seeing so far — it’s ticking the boxes at first glance.

We’ll have to wait and see how Carmageddon fares when it releases for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on February 6th, 2026. Here are a few official screenshots to whet your appetite until then:
