Industry Insider Teases ‘Secret’ Fourth Game For The Xbox Developer Direct Showcase

Today’s announcement of three games for the Xbox Developer Direct showcase on January 22nd was met with some surprise, as usually these events contain at least four or five games — but there’s also always a secret one in the mix.

In 2023, it was Hi-Fi RUSH. In 2024, it was Visions of Mana. In 2025, it was Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Ninja Gaiden 4. The question is, will we be getting another secret game in the 2026 version of the event?

Well, industry insider shinobi602, who has shared plenty of information relating to Xbox over the years and is generally considered a solid source, has suggested there is indeed a fourth game planned for the showcase, although very few details have been divulged.

In fact, all they’ve said is that the game isn’t to their personal tastes, which doesn’t give us much to go on! Here’s a bit of their exchange with another user on ResetEra earlier today:

“There’s a ‘secret’ fourth game.”

I doubt Shinobi will divulge what title he thinks it might be. Instead, shinobi602, can you tell us on a scale of 1 to 10, how excited are you for the secret game, assuming you can even do that? Lol.

“For my personal tastes, not very excited lol. That’s not to rain on anyone’s parade to be clear. Just in terms of the games I like.”

In a separate report earlier this week, Windows Central also hinted that a surprise could be in the works for the showcase, mentioning how they’d “heard one of Microsoft’s more intrepid teams may be ready to show off what it has been baking”.

There’s apparently no planned shadow drop for the Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remakes / remasters that are reported to be in the works, so those seem unlikely to appear, although Windows Central suggests that Obsidian has four new projects in the works right now, so perhaps it could be one of theirs?!

Whatever the case may be, we’ll keep an eye on the rumours and let you know if more details crop up, and then we can all find out for sure on January 22nd whether there’s a surprise or not. There’s got to be, right?
