Xbox Game Pass Mega-Hit Hollow Knight: Silksong Is Getting A Free Expansion In 2026
After waiting years and years for Hollow Knight: Silksong to finally grace Xbox, developer Team Cherry has announced a free expansion for 2026, dubbed ‘Sea of Sorrow‘.
In typically cryptic fashion, you can get a tiny glimpse of Sea of Sorrow in the trailer up above, ahead of its planned release next year. We’ll also chuck Team Cherry’s short description of what to expect down below:
“New areas, bosses, tools, and more! Hornet’s adventures continue in our nautically themed expansion, coming free for all players next year. We’ll keep further details a secret for now, but expect additional info shortly before Hollow Knight: Silksong – Sea of Sorrow releases.”
Alongside the announcement of Sea of Sorrow, the team has also revealed some interesting facts and figures about Silksong itself. This year’s Hollow Knight sequel has sold over seven million copies since launch in September, which is a pretty incredible feat for such a small team.
Team Cherry also mentions that “millions more” have been playing Hollow Knight: Silksong on Xbox Game Pass, which reminds us – the Sea of Sorrow expansion will be free for XGP subscribers, as long as the main game remains in the library around its release of course.
