Netflix Reportedly Considered Acquiring EA Prior To Warner Bros. Deal

Streaming behemoth Netflix has reportedly considered buying Electronic Arts and two other move studios prior to reaching an agreement to purchase Warner Bros. Discovery, according to Bloomberg.

The report states that debates were had by executive at Netflix on whether the streaming company should place bids on EA, Fox, and Disney, but couldn’t decide on a deal and and was concerned its standing with investors would be damaged as a result of its interest in those companies.

It isn’t known when exactly that Netflix expressed interested in those acquisitions, although the mention of Disney is certainly a massive prospect, seeing as how that company is known for its own buying spree, having snapped up the likes of Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm.

News of the deal with Warner Bros. Discovery emerged last week, although it’s important to remember that it hasn’t gone through yet; regularly have yet to approve the deal. However, if it does indeed go ahead, it’s been confirmed to be worth a staggering $82.7 billion.

Warner Bros. Discovery owns a number of major video game IPs and developers, so if Netflix did end up acquiring the company, it would be in possession of the creators of the likes of Batman: Arkham, Hogwarts Legacy, and Mortal Kombat just to name a few.
