Guerrilla Games’ Next Big Project Is Reportedly The Long-Rumoured Horizon Multiplayer Game

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has clarified that the recently-announced Horizon Steel Frontiers is a separate project to Guerrilla Games‘ own Horizon multiplayer game, which according to the journalist is the studio’s next major project.
Horizon Steel Frontiers is a collaboration between Guerrilla Games and NCSoft, and takes the form of an MMORPG; one that oddly enough is skipping PS5 in favour of PC and mobile devices. However, Schreier says that Guerrilla Games’ own Horizon multiplayer project is still very much alive.

Just to clear up some confusion I’ve seen, the newly announced NCSoft Horizon MMO is different from the multiplayer Horizon game that’s in development at Guerrilla Games. That one is Guerrilla’s next big project.
The Horizon multiplayer spinoff has been rumoured for a number of years now, with a report on VGC stating that Guerrilla Games had been wanting to expand the franchise to an online environment for a while. In fact, they claim that co-op was originally planned for Horizon Zero Dawn before the idea was canned.
Schreier had previously stated in September 2024 that Guerrilla Games’ next major project will be the Horizon multiplayer spinoff, and he also stated that Horizon 3 is in development but would not see the light of day for a while.
