Concord Is Now In A Playable State Again Thanks To Custom Fan-Made Servers

Firewalk Studios‘ shuttered PS5 online title Concord looks set to make a comeback of sorts, thanks to a dedicated group of fans who have managed to cobble together custom servers for the game, thus making it playable again.

The project is helmed by a group of developer known as Red, open_wizard, and gowg, and have shared on their Discord that Concord is now up and running thanks to their efforts. The feat was achieved by a complete rebuild of the Concord backend API undertaken by open_wizard, as well as reverse engineering courtesy of Red while gwog provided key fixes for major issues during the project.

As result of the work, Concord’s main menu has been made working again, in addition to character loading, matchmaking, and a Clash Point match. While the game is in a bit of a buggy state and this early stages, the fact is Concord is now technically back up and running in some form over a year since Sony took it down.

Hey. After a long time of reverse engineering & server development, we just managed to play a match of Concord! This is the match I played with open_wizard (don’t mind my horrible aim, I spend so much time reverse engineering that I no longer have the time to actually play game. The project is still WIP, it’s playable, but buggy. Once our servers are fully set up, we’ll begin doing some private playtesting, if anyone here wants to join those playtests, let me know (include what region/time zone you are in for convenience).

Concord was released for PS5 and PC in August 2024, but unfortunately didn’t attract much attention; Sony subsequently shut the game down after only a few weeks, before pulling it offline for good and shuttering Firewalk Studios. Concord has sadly gone down as one of the biggest gaming flops of all time, and PlayStation executive Hermen Hulst has since stated that the format holder has put in place a stricter testing process as a result of the game’s failure.

Back in June of this year, a pre-release build of Concord for PS5 dated November 2023 leaked online, offering an early look at the ill-fated shooter.
