Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Valley of Memory launches November 18 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The major update is free for all Assassin’s Creed Mirage players, bringing over six hours of new content, exciting player-requested features, and more.
Valley of Memory takes place before the final chapter in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, when Basim hears a rumor his father is alive in AlUla. Basim journeys to the valley in search of his missing father, only to find AlUla is plagued by a dangerous band of robbers. The content includes new missions, assassination targets, contracts, side quests, and more activities to do in the world – like playing the oud after tracking down music sheets during parkour challenges. You can also explore AlUla, a new area in the game filled with stunningly diverse landscapes and rich history; points of interest include the old city of AlUla, Ramm Valley, and the Hegra necropolis.

The Valley of Memory update also brings several gameplay changes to Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which have been implemented in both the base game and the free update. The development team included features that were requested by the community, such as parkour updates, replayable missions, increased skill and tool customization, and new difficultly levels. Let’s dive into each of these updates:
Parkour Updates
Parkour is at the heart of Assassin’s Creed, and now Basim is more versatile than ever as he moves through the densely populated Baghdad, the valley of AlUla, and anywhere else Basim’s adventure might take him. You can now toggle the ability to jump manually, customize side and back ejects, and take advantage of a new control scheme designed to smooth out the parkour experience.
Replayable Missions
Many of the major missions and contracts will be replayable after you successfully complete them the first time. Each replayable mission must be completed within a certain timeframe, and will offer a unique challenge to change up your experience; whether you have to complete an assassination without using Eagle Vision, only kill your main target, or remain undetected, you’ll need to sharpen your skills and play creatively to succeed and receive exclusive in-game rewards. You can access these replayable missions through the Animus Sequences section of your objective board.
Updated Skill and Tool Customization
Basim’s skill tree now includes “Engineer 2”, which allows him to equip all Level 1 modifications to his tools. Additionally, all his tools now have a new Level 3 modification option. These modifications make Basim’s tools more useful than ever – something that will come in handy during replayable mission challenges. Here are the new Level 3 upgrades for each tool:
- Throwing knives become explosive on impact
- Smoke bombs become corrosive, dissolving downed enemies to erase any evidence of Basim’s presence
- Blowdarts can pierce even heavily armored enemies
- Noisemakers put afflicted enemies to sleep
- Traps cause afflicted enemies to go berserk, attacking their nearby allies
New Difficulty Levels
Two new difficultly levels have also been added to Assassin’s Creed Mirage, giving you even more options to tailor your gameplay experience. The game also allows you to customize your difficulty in two ways: first by toggling on the existing permadeath mode, where getting killed means starting your playthrough from scratch; second with a new customizable difficulty feature that allows you to change a variety of parameters. Here are all the preset difficultly levels in the game, from easiest to hardest:
- Apprentice
- Assassin
- Hardened Assassin (NEW – similar to the Assassin difficulty, but enemies have a higher defence)
- Master Assassin
- Ultimate Assassin (NEW)
Completing Assassin’s Creed Mirage with permadeath on for Hardened Assassin difficulty will reward you with the Obsidian Rayhan costume dye, while doing so on Ultimate Assassin will reward you with the Skull Emblem talisman.

The Valley of Memory update will automatically download for all Assassin’s Creed Mirage players, but to start the mission within the narrative, look for a boy at the Harbiyah Bureau. When you interact with him, you’ll see a cutscene encouraging you to go to Dervis’ shop. Once there, Dervis will introduce the questline, hinting that Basim’s father is alive. Accepting the mission will start the new story arc, inviting you to the adventure in the valley of AlUla. You can also start Valley of Memory from the main menu simply by starting a new game and selecting the Valley of Memory option. This will load you directly into the Valley of Memory story, and your level, gear, and skills will be adjusted to an appropriate level for the adventure.
Play Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Valley of Memory when it comes out on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass on November 18. The new content will also be playable with a Ubisoft+ Premium subscription.
