It’s Official, Rockstar Games Has Delayed GTA 6 To November 2026

It’s been rumoured for a while, and now Rockstar Games has officially confirmed the news.
GTA 6 will no longer be releasing in May 2026 as planned, with the game slipping to November 19th, 2026. In a short statement on social media today, the company apologised for “adding additional time” on top of the previous date.
“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve.”
“We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.”
Interestingly, this new release date for GTA 6 now puts it just four days after the 25th anniversary of Xbox, which may force Microsoft to change plans for whatever was going to happen around that date.
There’s been speculation that the likes of Halo: Campaign Evolved or Fable may have been held back until November 15th to celebrate the anniversary, for example, so it’ll be interesting to see how Xbox’s release schedule stacks up now that GTA 6 has slotted itself into what’s typically a very busy period.
Here’s hoping we won’t see any more delays for this one – November 2026 should give them enough time!
