DC Dark Legion’s new update is so bad, the Joker’s plans look tame by comparison

If you told me months ago that I’d go from calling DC Dark Legion one of my must-play games to writing an article slating it (to the point I deleted it from my phone), I would’ve been utterly confused. However, the best DC game on my phone has gone from a daily part of my routine to an app icon covered in dust, and after the most recent update, I finally decided to remove it for good.
It’s the spookiest season of the year, and I’m scared – not because I’m playing the best horror games (although I will be soon) but mostly due to the fact that my favorite DC game has essentially become a shell of its former self. After reaching the level cap in my War Room, DC Dark Legion already became a dull version of itself, but with the latest update, things have gotten even worse.
Is it because of the broken new content? P2W shenanigans? A terrible VIP system that only benefits whales as opposed to light spenders who are reliable, returning players? All of it, yes. When I say new content, I don’t mean game modes or the like, but rather, a stamina system that essentially forces you to return to the game even when you sleep to get the most out of it. That DC Dark Legion tier list has gone from being a reliable battle-ready squad to a bunch of sleepy puppies that need naps every few hours.
Imagine playing the best Batman games, and then right before the Caped Crusader takes on the Joker, who’s about to blow up someone’s house, or something, and he takes a little break. It would be frustrating, right? Well, that’s no different here. Why does Superman need to sleep it off when the world’s in peril? It’s a truly odd design choice, made even worse by the fact that it was added as a post-launch update months later, rather than an intentional choice from the beginning.
That’s not the only thing that arrived with the update. A new VIP system, which promises rewards for the biggest players, is actually just another barrier that requires payment. As you reach higher VIP levels, you’ll earn bonus goodies – after paying a subscription, of course – but it also hides important gameplay features, from skipping Meta Brawl matches to earning more resources for your HQ.
Unfortunately, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. After months of no major content being introduced to the game, with just more ways to pay for stuff you already had, DC Dark Legion is finally done, at least for me. Personally, I’d recommend just investing your time into the other options on the best gacha games list, or if you own an Apple device, just play the best Apple Arcade games. It’s well worth the money, which unfortunately, I can’t say for this game.
Honestly, if you’re as tired of playing DC Dark Legion as me, there are plenty of options on our best mobile games list, so you’re not short of any exciting experiences to enjoy. Trust me when I say that’s the better start to your weekend.
