Fortnite’s Bart Simpson skin repeats the mistakes of Family Guy’s Peter Griffin

We’re getting closer to the launch of the new Fortnite The Simpsons seasonal update, and that means glimpses of cosmetics are emerging. Epic Games is going all out for The Simpsons’ arrival in Fortnite, and it wouldn’t be a proper celebration of Matt Groening’s work if Bart Simpson didn’t stop by. If you’re wondering what the Bart Simpson Fortnite skin looks like, then you’re in luck; we have our first look, for better or worse.

Listen, I’m excited for the The Simpsons Fortnite skins as much as you are. I’ll likely pick up the Battle Pass and dedicate enough hours to Chapter 6 Season 5 to make the most of it. Putting the Green Ranger in this season’s offerings worked, so doing the same for someone like Homer Simpson will probably do the same. However, I don’t know about you, but I’m not always a fan of how Epic Games remixes cartoon characters to turn them into Fortnite skins. The idea of buff Peter Griffin is still an odd one, as I’d rather have the lovable Quahog resident in his original form.

For Bart Simpson, though, the developer is repeating the same mistakes. I get it, Bart Simpson is short. He’s a kid, and by that logic, he’s significantly smaller than the traditional hitbox Epic Games designs Fortnite characters for. So, if you were hoping to see an accurate depiction of Bart in-game, you need to temper your expectations.

The first look at his skin confirms what previous leaks detail, and that’s Bart Simpson’s mech suit-clad appearance. In the clip from Fortnite scooper ‘HYPEX’, you can see Bart reach up to vandalize the Fortnite logo, with the assistance of his cyborg tech.

I can’t fault Epic Games when it comes to digging into The Simpsons lore, at least. While this skin isn’t an exact one-to-one copy, Bart does acquire a mech suit in ‘Bartificial Intelligence’, a segment in Treehouse of Horror XVI. Presumed to be deceased after falling into a coma, Homer and Marge Simpson buy a robotic version of Bart, and end up liking him more than their own son. In an act of revenge, the real Bart dons the mech suit as a result of his jealousy.

Who knew The Simpsons could be so bleak? Yet, despite this skin honoring a deep cut of the show’s lore, I’m still a bit disappointed about it. Part of me wants to be short, sprinting around the Fortnite map, and causing grief to unsuspecting players. I suppose I’ll have to dig up a copy of The Simpsons Hit and Run to do that.

Bart Simpson is to appear in Fortnite after Saturday, November 1, 2025, as the new update lands after the Fortnite The Simpsons live event on Friday, October 31, 2025.
