The Lord Of The Rings: Return To Moria Launches Durin’s Folk Expansion On November 18

Free Range Games has announced that it will release the Durin’s Folk expansion for The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria on November 18, 2025.

Durin’s Folk implements fresh end-game content in the form of an extra story chapter ripe with new lore, mysterious and challenging areas that dwell beyond the mountain’s caverns, and additional gameplay mechanics. Here, players will uncover more about the Dwarves during the Fourth Age, the Lord of Moria, and more that expands on the rich tapestry of lore woven into The Lord of the Rings.

Meanwhile, the Recruiting Post allows you to save and recruit NPCs that you come across in the depths of the mines, which will then join your settlement and adopt roles such as blacksmith, miner, guard, and brewmaster. In doing so, you can restore Moria to its glory days by constructing works called Monuments.

Durin’s Folk also adds multiplayer expeditions that will see you conquering procedurally generated dungeons, taking on randomised end-game adventures solo or with friends in tow. You’ll also explore new locations including Durin’s Tower, while an update to end-game economy offers new materials, items and recipes to unlock.

The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria was released in December 2023 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, and you can read our full review here.
