Glen Schofield Is Still Thinking About Making Dead Space 4: ‘I’m Already Making Calls’

Glen Schofield has revealed that he’s got a number of ideas brewing for a new video game project, among them is the much-requested Dead Space 4.

Speaking with IGN, Schofield, who was the creator of the original 2008 Dead Space while at Visceral Games, revealed that as EA has been purchased by a group of private investors, there’s an opportunity for the sequel to happen.

I have quite a few ideas that I’m ready to go with, and one of them is Dead Space 4. The fact that EA just got bought, I think there’s an opportunity. I’m already making calls.

The former Sledgehammer Games executive recalled a previous visit to EA in order to try and get Dead Space 4 off the ground, but despite having a solid plan in place, the publishing wasn’t interested. You may recall that in December last year Schofield revealed that he alongside other members of the original Dead Space team had tried to convince EA to make Dead Space 4 to no avail.

I went to [EA] recently and they’re like no, we’re not interested anymore. I said, I can get back the leadership team. I need the models from EA Motive [Dead Space Remake creator] and I can save you 30 to 40 million dollars on the idea that I have. And, they’re like, ‘no.’

Dead Space went on a decade-long hiatus after the released of Dead Space 3, but EA returned to the franchise with 2023’s brilliant remake of the original from EA Motive. Unfortunately, the game failed to meet the publisher’s sales expectations, so the franchise has once again been put on ice.

There had been suggestions that a Dead Space 2 Remake was in the pipeline at some stage, but these claims were shot down by EA. The Motive Team who worked on Dead Space Remake were later repurposed to work at EA’s various Battlefield studios.
