Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Development Won’t Be Impacted By Multiplatform Approach ‘Whatsoever’

The director on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has assured fans that the multiplatform approach to Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 will not impact its development.

While Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth have up until now remained exclusive to PlayStation platforms, that’s set to change in January 2026, with the first game coming to Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S. Rebirth is also coming to those platforms, but a release date has yet to be announced. As such, Part III is also going to be a multiplatform affair.

Speaking with Easy Allies, Naoki Hamaguchi revealed “we do have designated teams working on each platform so that our multiplatform approach won’t impact the development [of Part III] whatsoever.” He added that “development for both Nintendo Switch 2 Rebirth and the third installment are going very smoothly,” although some issues have reared their head for the Xbox versions.

As for the Xbox version, like many other publishers, I think we did see some issues with the lack of memory compared with other platforms. But as for the Switch 2 releases, we actually have the main dev team working really hard on this. As a result I think we’re pretty confident with the end product, we did get some great reviews for FF7 Remake Intergrade so I hope the fans look forward to it.

Speaking in a separate interview earlier this week with Automaton, Hamaguchi-san revealed that Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is ‘shaping up nicely,’ and that much of the game’s content is in a playable state. While there’s no release date for the project yet, Square Enix has indicated that it will launch in 2027.
