Silksong Pays Tribute to a Fan Who Lost Battle with Cancer
It’s hard to talk about Silksong without mentioning it’s lengthy development time and back in 2020 while the game was deep in progress the developers at Team Cherry met with a fan who would go on to be immortalized in the beloved title.
Seth Goldman or u/big_boi878 on Reddit was unfrotunately struggling with a type of cancer known as Ewing Sarcoma and got to meet with Team Cherry thanks to the Marty Lyons Foundation. (an organization similar to Make-A-Wish, granting wishes for terminally ill patients) You can read Seth’s own words about the experience down below.
So some backstory, I have Ewing sarcoma, a type of cancer (which I’m still fighting, support is appreciated) but my wish was to talk to team cherry, which was super fun. But after the talk they said I can make a character, which I did, he’s really cool and has a boss fight but I can’t show you anything besides the name which I named him after myself (Seth) but a blog post is coming soon so I can’t waif for you to see him, and see his cool lore and design and gameplay

Unfortunately, Seth would lose the battle to cancer sometime after this post was made and never got to see the release of Silksong. The Silksong community both mourned the loss but also celebrated his life and Team Cherry kept their promise.
Considering Silksong is still new we feel it necessary to warn you that the rest of this article contains spoilers for how to find Seth as well as his boss fight so if you want to remain unspoiled we suggest you turn back now.
Seth can be found behind a smashable wall near an elevator in the Grand Gate area, you can watch a video of his fight up above and also look at the initial concept art and final art of the character down below.
Seth’s story is a heartfelt reminder on the impact games and the communities they foster can have. When Silksong launched many fans took to social media to share their memories and condolences for Seth and I believe the words shared by u/EvidenceEquivalent38 said it best.
“I wish so badly that we could play silksong together too, but I’m glad you’ll still be there in some form.”
