Gears Of War: Reloaded’s Latest Update Adds Important 120FPS Fix For Xbox Series X|S
Last week, we highlighted an analysis from Digital Foundry about Gears of War: Reloaded, praising how the game ran on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S but also pointing out a bizarre issue with the 120FPS mode in campaign.
Basically, it seemed that VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) wasn’t being activated when trying to play at up to 120FPS in the single-player mode, resulting in a lot of judder that made it unplayable – we just stuck to 60FPS for our playthrough.
The latest update for the game, however, has officially added VRR support for campaign mode on both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, meaning that if your display supports it, the 120FPS option should now be much more viable.
“Support for Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) on Xbox Series X|S in campaign mode.”
This is particularly great news considering we never expected the campaign to run at 120FPS – all the marketing material for the game specifically states that 120FPS is for multiplayer only, so this is a welcome bonus for sure.
And that’s not all! The patch notes for the latest update also include a few tweaks to the Gnasher that you might be interested in, along with various bug fixes that haven’t been specified. We’ll throw all of the important details below:
Gnasher weapon tuning
Based on community feedback, we’ve tuned the Gnasher:
- Reduced power at mid-range: Damage modifications: medium-range damage reduced by 15% – does not affect close range damage.
- Bullet spread not as tight when aiming down sights: The Shotgun Pellet Spread when aiming down sights is now less tight when targeting compared to the launch version, but it is still tighter than the beta.
Crash & Stability Improvements
Several rare crashes and bugs have been fixed across all platforms, making your experience smoother.
