Classic PSOne Action Game Fear Effect Is Now Available For PS5 & PS4
Limited Run Games’ Fear Effect for PS5 & PS4 has been shadow-dropped today on the PlayStation Store. The game was announced last year for PS5, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch, but a concrete date was never revealed at the time — but you can grab it from today for $9.99.
Developed by Kronos Digital Entertainment, Fear Effect was originally released for the PlayStation back in 2000. The game takes place in 2050, and sees players controlling three mercenaries in Hong Kong , combining survival horror and stealth mechanics with as striking visual presentation that echoes cel-shading. Fear Effect employs tank controls like Resident Evil, with players battling against human and non-human foes while solving puzzles and opting for stealth kills where possible.

Unlike Resident Evil however, Fear Effect eschews 2D pre-rendered backgrounds I favour of looping full-motion video, although as a result of this the game was required to ship on four discs. Fear Effect was followed by a prequel, Fear Effect: Retro Helix, in 2001 for PSOne.
Fear Effect is out now for PS5 & PS4.
