Helldivers 2 Has No Xbox Reviews Yet, So Here’s What The Players Are Saying So Far

You want the good news or the bad news? The good news is that Helldivers 2 is out now for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, but the bad news is that it’s launched with zero reviews from any of the major outlets on the World Wide Web.

That suggests the review codes weren’t distributed ahead of time (we got ours when the game launched earlier today), meaning we’ll have to turn to the early adopters to get their initial feedback on how the Xbox version is faring so far.

We’ve already seen a great comparison for Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S courtesy of Fuzion Xbox Testing, but it’s always good to get a wider range of opinions.

Now, we’ve had a look at the Xbox Store user reviews, and they’re just… kind of a mess. The game is getting littered with reviews talking about how the Halo Warbond is a special premium item rather than being free, and people talking about how the game itself is overrated without providing any real context as to why they feel that way, and there’s not actually a whole lot about the visuals and performance – aside from that the Series S version doesn’t look great.

Our best way to measure the early reaction right now is to look to Reddit, where a bunch of people have been sharing their impressions with the Xbox community over there. Here are just a few examples of what they’ve been saying:

As you can see, it’s a little bit all over the place, but the general consensus does seem to be that it’s a fun experience on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, although the latter doesn’t have the best visuals by any means.

However, one of the things that a few Helldivers 2 players are pointing out is that you can turn off the anti-aliasing in the settings menu, which should help to reduce the heavy blurriness of the image:

marinealien705 on YouTube: “As a PC Helldiver I wanted to see what it was like playing/running this game on Xbox. ITS A MUST (even on PC) TO TURN OFF anti-aliasing, it blurs the game way too much. Better to deal with jaggies than playdoh graphics. It seems AA does the same to the console version and you can luckily turn it off on console.”

We’re expecting the first reviews to start hitting Metacritic over the next few days, so it might be worth waiting until the weekend if you’re desperate for those, but otherwise please let us know in the comments down below if you decide to buy it – the Pure Xbox community would certainly be grateful for your first impressions of how it performs!

And of course, we’re hoping to have some impressions of our own to share with you very soon as well…
