The games industry moves quickly and while stories may come and go there are some that we just can’t let go of…

So, to give those particularly thorny topics a further going over we’ve created a weekly digest where the members of the PocketGamer.biz team share their thoughts and go that little bit deeper on some of the more interesting things that have happened in mobile gaming in the past week.

Safe In Our World creates new mental health accreditation and Moshi Monsters Kickstarter comeback | Week in Views

Safe In Our World launches first games industry mental health accreditation

Mental health in the workplace is something we should all be considerate about, yet stigma often still lingers. It often feels like mental health can be treated as an afterthought and isn’t taken seriously enough. So I hope Safe In Our World’s new mental health star accreditation for the games industry is a step in the right direction.

When it comes to the games industry, it has been through a lot in recent years and on top of that, it is known for being fast-paced, competitive, and often gets caught up in crunch culture.

That pressure can chip away at people’s mental health and cause burnout. So I hope that when a company takes the time to go through the new accreditation system it’s a signal that shows that mental health is something they want to be proactive about within the workplace.

What I also like is that this system isn’t just a one-time thing where you get your certificate and that’s the end of it. Instead, there are annual check-ins and there is actionable feedback for studios to improve.

For some talent out there looking for roles within the industry, seeing that the studio they are interviewing for is taking mental health seriously could carry a lot of weight and at least shows they are engaged with the right conversations.

Moshi Monsters’ second comeback Kickstarter hits £50,000 goal in six hours

After reporting on the whole Moshi Monsters comeback story thus far, I’d be remiss not to once again highlight the latest major update here, as the latest arc concludes.

Put simply, the latest update is this: Moshi Monsters has raised £50,000, achieving its Kickstarter goal and guaranteeing the sequel will be coming to mobile and PC.

But, the journey to get here has had many twists and turns.

For starters, Mind Candy began to consider bringing Moshi Monsters back early in 2025, as fans of the old Flash game continued to request some new iteration of the shuttered title.

Thus, the developer decided to go ahead with a fully fledged sequel and launched a Kickstarter campaign this June, looking to raise at least £250,000 to make the game happen. And, briefly, it looked as though they’d achieved it. The goal was seemingly reached in a day, and fans were happy – until Mind Candy discovered a “malicious actor” had committed fake pledges to mislead the community.

Once those pledges were removed, the total Kickstarter goal actually hadn’t been reached – and two months later it still hadn’t. It seemed like the wind had been taken from Mind Candy’s sails, and the company cancelled the original comeback campaign.

Then, this week the team launched a new campaign with a much lower goal – just 20% of the original target and less than 33% of what they’d actually raised in the original campaign, though haven’t received since that campaign was cancelled.

The lower target was reached in just six hours, meaning Moshi Monsters will indeed return, but with substantially less player funding than originally desired. Of course, fans can still make further pledges to reach further milestones, including some mystery additions should £160,000 or £170,000 be reached.

Either way, Moshi Monsters is coming back. And it’s coming to mobile.
