Assassin’s Creed Shadows Is Europe’s Best-Selling New Game Of 2025 So Far
As we head into Gamescom 2025, outlet The Game Business has shared some European sales data for the year up to this point – and we have some interesting entries in the top 20, including a couple of titles from Team Xbox.
First off, our headlining news here is that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the best-selling new game of 2025 so far – which should be no real surprise given the size of the IP and its February release time. Talking of big franchises though, AC Shadows was beaten to the top if you count games that launched last year; EA Sports FC 25 came out on top overall.
Here’s a look at the top 20 games sold in Europe this year so far (most major publishers are included):
1. EA Sports FC 25 (EA)
2. Assassin’s Creed Shadows (Ubisoft)
3. Grand Theft Auto 5 (Rockstar)
4. Red Dead Redemption 2 (Rockstar)
5. Hogwarts Legacy (Warner Bros)
6. Split Fiction (EA)
7. Monster Hunter Wilds (Capcom)
8. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (Activision Blizzard)
9. Mario Kart World (Nintendo) *Physical only
10. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (Plaion)
11. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered (Bethesda)
12. Star Wars Battlefront 2 (EA)
13. Elden Ring: Nightreign (Bandai Namco)
14. It Takes Two (EA)
15. Grand Theft Auto Online (Rockstar)
16. NBA 2K25 (2K Games)
17. F1 25 (EA)
18. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege (Ubisoft)
19. Mario Kart 8: Deluxe (Nintendo) *Physical only
20. Battlefield 1 (EA)
Microsoft has two entries in this list in the form of Black Ops 6 and Oblivion Remastered, which is great to see, and something like Battlefront 2 cropping up here after going viral recently is also good stuff. It’s worth noting that some of the smaller publishers aren’t included in the chart – for instance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 couldn’t appear here due to Kepler Interactive not sharing its sales data.
Finally, Split Fiction is worth a shout as it’s officially Europe’s best-selling new IP of the year so far, and the game coming in a number 6 is particularly impressive given the stiff competition it has up there in the chart. Congrats to the Hazelight team on that one!
