While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game.
So here’s a collection of the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.
Dragon Spira
A nostalgia-packed pixel RPG from Kemco, Dragon Spira sends players on their latest to unlock the secrets of an ancient legend. Along the way, they’ll master job roles, unlock new skills and build an unstoppable team of heroes, powered up with the Spirit Beast by their side.
Two versions of Dragon Spira are currently available, as players can choose between a free-to-play game with ads or a premium, ad-free experience.
Once Human: RaidZone
NetEase Games’ Once Human PvP spinoff Once Human: RaidZone is out now on iOS and Android, focusing on combat and survival in the series’ supernatural setting.
Resource deployment systems and combat mechanics aim to help this title stand apart from the original, with every single weapon and piece of armour needing to be stolen from someone else. Instead of pre-battle strategy, surviving here comes down to skill and adaptability.
LEGO Bluey
Popular children’s cartoon Bluey has donned a cubic form in LEGO Bluey, launching with 750,000 pre-registrations and offering four minigames set in the Bluey universe.
Each designed to encapsulate the heart of the brand, those games include Go for a Drive, Around the House, Tea Party and Beach Day. The mobile game has been made a reality through the team-up of The LEGO Group, BBC Studios and Dublin-based developer StoryToys.
Worms Across Worlds
Team17 and Behaviour Interactive have brought Worms Across Worlds to Apple Arcade. As the title implies, this entry in the long-running series sees the worms thrown across dimensions, where they’re forced to battle through every chaotic challenge with rifles, explosives or anything else they can get their hands on.
Even if worms don’t actually have hands.
Cat Quest III
Seafaring swashbucklers now have the chance to try before they buy with Cat Quest III, which has sailed its way to iOS as the game celebrates its first anniversary.
The Gentlebros’ title features over 100 pieces of loot to find, more than 50 bosses to vanquish and one all-important cartoon cat.
Club
Formation Games has launched mobile football management sim Club with an emphasis on team progress and financial infrastructure. In charge of everything from the stadium to a Premier League team manager, the title sees players compete their way up to Diamond League with real-world players.
Let’s Go Mightycat!
From swashbuckling to space adventuring, cats certainly do get around. Ponos Corporation’s latest caper sees one heroic feline tackle challenging puzzles across the galaxy, all with the goal of bringing every planet in the cosmos under the Cat Empire’s control.
A spinoff based on tower defence game The Battle Cats, Let’s Go Mightycat! is out now on Apple Arcade.
StoneAge: Pet World
Animal brawler StoneAge: Pet World has launched in Canada, Thailand, Hong Kong and Macau, with pre-registrations currently open for the global release.
The Netmarble title uses the term ‘pet’ loosely, with every species from pigs to dinosaurs ready to form a legion and take down the competition.
