Nintendo appears to be ramping up Switch 2 production for the holiday season

Here’s what we know for a fact. The Switch 2 has been a humungous hit right out of the gate, and Nintendo has done an incredible job with stocking the system. This has been far-and-away the best Nintendo has ever done when it comes to managing stock and following up with replenishments, yet they are still facing sell-outs. Nintendo’s president even apologized for the issue and promised to work to fix it. Now we may have some evidence of that.

While Nintendo hasn’t gotten into the specifics of how many Switch 2 units they’ll be producing, their partners have shared some info that may point to an increased production run as we head into the holiday season. Here’s what’s been discovered in the financial reports from companies Nintendo has teamed with to build Switch 2 (h/t Nintendo Patents Watch):

  • PixArt Imaging expects 11-19% increase of sales to Nintendo (Jul-Sep)
  • Hosiden revised forecast of 6-mouth sales up 10.3% (Apr-Sep)

PixArt is the sole supplier of the optical sensors on the Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 that allow for mouse mode. Hosiden is an assembler of Switch/Switch 2 hardware and accessories. With both companies expecting boosts in their bottom line, it indicates that they’ve been working with the Big N to crank out more Switch 2 units than usual. It’s not surprising to see production lines boosted as the holiday season nears, and both companies appear confident that demand for the hardware will remain high.

There’s no doubt Nintendo wants to make sure the Switch 2 is stocked and ready for the holiday season, and they’d have to make those preparations a number of months in advance. If Nintendo is indeed getting things prepped right now, let’s hope that everyone who wants a Switch 2 this holiday has no trouble hunting one down.
