Grand Theft Auto VI Will Have A ‘Fair Price’ Says Take-Two Boss Strauss Zelnick

Speaking during an interview with Variety, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, has promised that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI will carry a fair price point when it launches in May 2026.

The executive neatly dodged giving a direct answer when asked about what $79.99 games mean for GTA VI, but did had the following to say:

Our goal always is to deliver more value than what we charge, so we’ve had variable pricing at the company forever. As you know, the approach of the industry is to launch at a premium price, sometimes with special editions, and over time, typically to reduce the price to enhance the overall size of the market. We do the very same thing. I think, probably more than most, we’re highly focused on making sure that the experience is great, not just because the game itself is great, but also because consumers have paid a fair price for it.

The topic of GTA VI’s price point has been brought up numerous times in the past few months, and most recently Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter reckons the game will retail for $99.99. Earlier this year, analyst Matthew Ball said there’s “hope” in the industry that Rockstar Games’ upcoming crime romp will retail up to $100.

In related news to GTA VI, Lazlow Jones, who famously portrayed his in-game counterpart in numerous Grand Theft Auto titles for over 20 years, has said it’s doubtful he’ll return in GTA VI after leaving Rockstar in 2020.
