While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game.
So here’s a collection of the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.
Pokémon Friends
Shadow dropped immediately after this week’s Pokémon Presents, puzzle game Pokémon Friends has entered the scene with over 1,200 challenges to overcome.
Those puzzles include sliding Pokémon over ice, drawing a single line to connect all lightbulbs on-screen, moving blocks to create a path, and more.
Completing puzzles nets players Pokémon plushes to decorate an in-game room with.
Bridge Constructor Studio
The latest entry in ClockStone’s Bridge Constructor series, Bridge Constructor Studio, features 70 bridge-building puzzles, seven vehicles and a wide range of construction materials.
Players can use all the resources they need to solve each conundrum, but building safe bridges within a budget can earn bonus rewards – adding an extra layer of challenge for those most tactically minded.
Mythic Item Obtained: Idle RPG
After a fruitful launch in Korea, Studio Lico has rolled out Mythic Item Obtained: Idle RPG to North America, Japan and Taiwan.
This title is based on a webtoon with over 300 million views, complete with cartoony characters and divine trials – all in preparation for the grand battle with Odin himself.
Mutropolis
2020 sci-fi adventure Mutropolis has finally arrived on mobile, bringing the hand-drawn adventure to the platform well before its Year 5000 setting.
This premium Pirita Studio title features more than 50 locations as protagonist Henry Dijon explores a long-abandoned Earth with his team of archaeologists, available to investigate for a one-time fee.
Rollercoaster Racer
Indie developer iDor Interactive has launched Rollercoaster Racer worldwide, bringing high-speed rides to Apple devices everywhere.
This skill-based rollercoaster game comes out the gate with 30 tracks and fast-paced 3D races, which can be played alone or in competition with friends via Game Center. There’s even a split-screen option for those players who can handle double the action.
Metal Slug Tactics
The latest perk of a Crunchyroll subscription, Metal Slug Tactics is available now on mobile to paying members only.
Leikir Studio’s turn-based spinoff of the Metal Slug series was first released late last year, and its mobile iteration comes complete with chain abilities, terrain advantages and a pixel art universe.
