Assassin’s Creed Shadows Had A Budget Of Over 100 Million Euros, Reveals Yves Guillemot
Ubisoft chief Yves Guillemot has confirmed that the production budget for Assassin’s Creed Shadows reached over 100 million euros, although did not disclose an exact figure.
Speaking during a recent shareholder meeting, Guillemot commented, “We don’t disclose production costs, it did cost over 100 million euros, we’ll say that. We don’t give any final costs. We also invested heavily in the engine.”

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was released for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S in March 2025, and Ubisoft has been busy patching the game over the last few months with numerous quality-of-life improvements.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set during the end of the Sengoku period during 16th century Japan, and introduces two playable characters: a female shinobi named Fujibayashi Naoe, and African samurai Yasuke, who is inspired by the historical figure of the same name. Players are able to explore the Kansai region of Japan, with areas including Kyoto, Kobe, and Osaka featured, while Naoe and Yasuke both featured playstyles based on their individual abilities.
Back in mid-April, Circana’s Mat Piscatella revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows ranked as the second-best selling video game in the US of the year so far, with only Monster Hunter Wilds beating it.
While we’re touching base on Guillemot, the executive revealed during the same shareholders meeting that Star Wars Outlaws failed to reach Ubisoft’s internal sales expectations in part due to the waning interest in the franchise as a whole. Last week, Guillemot confirmed in an internal memo to staff that Ubisoft will be adopting a Creative Houses structure going forward, with the first being run by Charles Guillemot and Christophe Derennes.
