Sony Santa Monica’s ‘Next Big Thing’ Is Reportedly Progressing Well

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has provided a brief update on the status of Sony Santa Monica Studio‘s next project, which God of War director Cory Barlog is currently involved with.

When asked about how the project is going, Schreier responded, “Cory Barlog’s game is Sony Santa Monica’s next big thing. Last time I spoke to anyone about it (a month or two ago) it was going well.”

Sony Santa Monica Studio has been keeping quiet on its next major project, although the company has been busy hiring for the game, as evidenced by a series of job openings back in May. However, the LinkedIn profile of a senior manager at Santa Monica Studio last year stated that it has more than one unannounced title in the works.

Barlog himself has been keeping quite a low profile as of late, although in March of last year he did reveal on X that he’s “seeing some early things coming together on this thing I am working on right now,” but didn’t understandably go into much detail.

God of War Ragnarok was the last major title from Sony Santa Monica Studio, and the company celebrated the series’ 20th anniversary back in March with a series of free content drops for the Norse-themed adventure sequel.
