Xbox Fan Shocked That Latest First-Party Release Ships Completely On Disc

In recent months, there’s been a bit of controversy surrounding physical Xbox releases and the amount of data stored on-disc, with both Indiana Jones and DOOM: The Dark Ages requiring big downloads before being able to play. However, the company’s latest first-party launch isn’t affected by this – at least on Xbox Series X.

Taking to Reddit, user revengexgamer has posted about their experience getting a hold of an early copy of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, due out July 11th. It seems as though the Xbox Series X version contains the whole game on-disc, while the user has also discovered that the last-gen Xbox One version requires an internet download to play.

As you can see in the above post, this Xbox is fan is actually “shocked” by their discovery, which tells you how things are right now in regards to physical Xbox releases. It’s worth noting that the controversies we mentioned at the top related to Bethesda releases, while the new Tony Hawk game is of course coming from Microsoft’s Activision team.

Anyway, this is good news for preservation of the physical Xbox Series X version – although Xbox One users are out of luck here. Pro Skater 3+4 lands on Xbox tomorrow, and of course, it launches day one on Game Pass if you’re not fussed about grabbing a physical copy.
