What’s Your Favourite Backwards Compatible Xbox Game?

Talking Point: What's Your Favourite Backwards Compatible Xbox Game?

We’ve obviously talked a lot about backwards compatibility here at Pure Xbox over the years, but we’re often asking you which games you’d want to be backwards compatible – rather than the games that already are.

And of course, there’s already an amazing library of back compat titles for Xbox that are 100% worth playing in 2025! Personally, one that comes to mind is Split/Second – an amazing racing game from the Xbox 360 era that’s still populated in online multiplayer to this day thanks to backwards compatibility for Xbox One and Series X|S.

A lot of the Rockstar games are obvious picks too. Max Payne 3 is the one in the image above, and let’s not forget about the likes of GTA 4 (with its two DLCs), Red Dead Redemption, Bully and the legendary Rockstar Table Tennis!

You see a few of these backwards compatible games climbing the Xbox charts sometimes as well. All of the classic Call of Duty titles (which inexplicably aren’t on Xbox Game Pass yet) are great shouts for nostalgic fun in 2025, Skate 3 is still one of the best skateboarding games of all time, and you can’t go wrong with a bit of Fallout or Gears of War.

And again, I just want to highlight that if it’s original Xbox emulation you’re after, the Xbox 360 supports a lot more games than the Xbox One, Series X and Series S do. I’ve been playing Burnout 3: Takedown, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4, Super Monkey Ball Deluxe and loads of other classics on my Xbox 360 Slim over the past few weeks.

So, here we go – we want your recommendations! With hundreds of backwards compatible games available on Xbox these days, we’re bound to have missed something, so let us know your favourites in the comments below!
