Full Metal Schoolgirl attending Switch 2 in October

“They can’t have ice cream, not anymore!”

If you’ve been wondering where those Switch 2 game announcements have been, you just haven’t been looking into the dystopian future of 2089 Japan. That’s your mistake, and it’s one D3Publisher is helping to correct with the announcement that Full Metal Schoolgirl is heading our way on October 23rd.

Developed by Yuke’s—the team that brought us EARTH DEFENSE FORCE: World Brothers 2 and AEW: Fight Forever—Full Metal Schoolgirl is an “…action-packed adventure with a heavy-duty attitude,” as is clearly illustrated in the reveal trailer.

Get all that? Let’s slow down and let the press release do its job:

Set in the year 2089, Full Metal Schoolgirl throws players into a dystopian Japan where the nation’s economy is dominated by Meternal Jobz, a corrupt corporate superpower whose zombified cyborg labor force, the “Working Dead,” are capable of working nonstop. As a fully armed cyborg schoolgirl heroine, players must ascend Meternal Jobz’s ever-shifting 100-story skyscraper, dismantling waves of undead salarymen, the dastardly CEO, and twisted security systems on a mission of personal revenge before their evil plans come to fruition.

In other words, “This is a game about rebellion and chaos,” said Nobuyuki Okajima, Producer at D3Publisher. “It’s a thrilling close-quarters battle experience set in a brutal satire of late-stage capitalism powered by bullets, blades, and the support of your livestream audience.”

Makes you wonder why they bothered setting it in the future, eh?

In Full Metal Schoolgirl, players will:

  • Take Revenge as a Fully-Mechanized Schoolgirl: Step into the role of a cyborg heroine armed with an arsenal of high-powered weaponry and cutting-edge mechanical upgrades in this action shooter. Infiltrate Meternal Jobz, the world’s most ruthless mega-corporation, and fight back against undead “Working Dead”, the relentless corporate grunts that will stop at nothing to protect their employer.
  • Engage in Close-Quarters Combat in an Ever-Changing Skyscraper: Enter a towering 100-story skyscraper where the evil CEO awaits on the top floor. Climb higher while navigating an evolving structure as each new run introduces changing layouts and obstacles from its trap-like security system.
  • Fund Upgrades with Live-Streamed Battles: Use the power of content creation to win the favor of viewers! Obtain materials and rewards by defeating enemies to improve your character and earn donations for upgrades by live-streaming to a captivated audience. As the number of viewers increases, so does the support. Even in the face of defeat, remember you are not alone…the viewers of your livestream are cheering you on!

Pre-orders for Full Metal Schoolgirl are not yet available for the Switch 2, but the official website is open with additional content.
