Capcom Shares Early Online Multiplayer Concepts For Resident Evil Requiem
Resident Evil Requiem developer Capcom has revealed that the game originally started out life as an online multiplayer title, confirming previous report from insider Dusk Golem that the game went through online concepts before becoming a single-player game.
Game director Koshi Nakanishi revealed that the online concept scrapped as the team realised it wasn’t what fans would want out of a new Resident Evil game. Brief footage of the early Resident Evil 9 concepts were shared in an extended developer diary on Capcom’s website, which is available to members.
You might have heard some of the rumours, things like an online Resident Evil or an open world Resident Evil, which we spent some time experimenting with. But in the end, although we had some interesting concepts, we realised that it wasn’t what fans wanted to see or play. So we went back to the drawing board and created what led to Resident Evil Requiem.
