FBC: Firebreak Launch Has Been ‘Exciting’, But Dev Team Knows It Needs To Improve
It’s probably fair to say that FBC: Firebreak has been a bit of a disappointment considering it’s got the Remedy Entertainment name attached to it. That’s not to say it’s bad by any means, but the reviews have been pretty lukewarm.
However, the game did receive a notable patch on Friday to address certain bits of feedback (full v1.2 patch notes are on Steam), and the team has confirmed that more improvements are on the way, insisting there’s plenty of work ahead.
“Launching FBC: Firebreak is a significant milestone for us, not just because it’s our first online co-op game, but because we’ve self-published it as well. Several things have gone well. Clearly, not everything has.”
“It’s clear there are features that need to improve. And they will improve. Thank you for the feedback. We hear you loudly and clearly. Please keep the feedback coming. We are improving some features starting now. While we can improve some features today and in the near term, some others will take longer and require more thinking from us. We will keep you informed every step of the way.”
This quote is again from a separate Steam post that lays out a few planned improvements, including some that are part of the v1.2 patch that arrived late last week. A handful of the things that are mentioned are a better onboarding experience (particularly in the first hour), improvements to clarity of the user interface, making full Jobs easier to access, and speeding up progression and gear unlocks.
It sounds like there’s a lot more to come beyond this as well, with “broader improvements” being actively discussed inside of Remedy right now based on player feedback. They certainly seem to be taking the game’s future seriously!
If you haven’t tried it yet, you can check out FBC: Firebreak right now on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass – and if you have played it, let us know what you think in our poll below (which we first sent out on Pure Xbox last week).
