What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 21-22)

Welcome to another weekend, folks! It’s going to be an absolute scorcher here in the UK, so if you reside over here (or anywhere that’s hot right now), do make sure that you stay cool and hydrated while doing your weekend gaming.

We’ll be doing just that, while hopping into these video games over the next few days:

As was the case last weekend, I’ll be hopping back into Gears of War: Reloaded multiplayer this weekend as well. The team is adding a few more classic maps and modes into beta weekend 2, so you know, as a Gearhead I’ve got to give it all a go haven’t I?!

Gears multiplayer shenanigans aside, I’m going to try out some FBC: Firebreak on Xbox Game Pass just to see what it’s like – and if I can stomach it, I might even give Crash Bandicoot 4 a go as well. Fellow staffer Fraser has warned us about how tough the game can be though, so let’s see if I have the stomach for it over a sweltering UK weekend.

I finally downloaded Palia the other day with the intention of dipping into it at some point, but I sneakily tried about 15 minutes of it and I’m already very intrigued to play more. I don’t really know what to expect from this one yet, but it feels like a free-to-play mix of Disney Dreamlight Valley, Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley right now.

Beyond that, I’m probably going to be playing a lot more Rematch. It’s one of those games that can be infuriating because of your teammates and just how difficult the controls are, but the thrill of scoring a goal or pulling off a great assist means I keep coming back to it again and again. It’s definitely got that Rocket League addictiveness factor!
