Climate Station Hits PS5 & PSVR 2 Today, ‘Transforms Decades Of Climate Science Into An Interactive Story’
PlayStation Studios has announced the release of Climate Station for PS5 and PSVR 2, which is billed as an interactive story based on decades of climate science.
Climate Station was developed by Sony Interactive Entertainment as part of the hardware giant’s collaboration with United Stations Playing for the Planet Alliance, and allows users to enjoy an immersive, interactive experience to easily digest collections of complex data. It’s a free app to download, and utilises some of the technology used in blockbuster video games, offering a “seamless, visually rich experience.”

PS5 users will be able to check out a fully interactive globe, allowing you to zoom into climate events and data layers using the DualSense, while PSVR 2 ups the immersion by allowing you to reach out with the PSVR 2 Sense controllers and manipulate the Earth. Climate Station offers a guided tour, where upon completing each section, will unlock new features for you to enjoy.
Among the highlights for Climate Station include Weather Year, which is a visually powerful time-lapse of clouds and storms over the course of changing seasons, where you’ll witness wildfires, tropical storms, floods and droughts. Meanwhile, Observations allow users to use authoritative data from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to explore over a century of climate change.
Finally, there’s Projects, which is detailed as follows:
In Projections, explore five possible pathways shaped by global emissions decisions — from rapid CO₂ reductions to unchecked emissions growth. Using IPCC-trusted models, you’ll see how temperature and impact trajectories diverge dramatically by 2100. Track escalating risks – extreme weather, droughts, floods, biodiversity loss, irreversible tipping points, and more. Track vital signs such as sea level, ocean heat, and ice mass under each scenario. Explore vivid milestone globes showing how different warming levels reshape ecosystems, habitats, species, and critical systems – making it clear how the choices we make today define the kind of future we’ll face tomorrow.
Climate Station is out now for PS5 and PSVR 2. More details can be found on the PlayStation Blog here.
