The PlayStation 5 is a remarkable console. Likewise, accessories like the PULSE Elite wireless headset understandably appeal to consumers. However, over the years, not every gaming release on Sony’s iconic consoles has necessarily hit the spot. In fact, we’ve been exposed to some terrible video games.
Of course, the fact that certain titles didn’t record big numbers isn’t Sony’s fault. Sometimes, game makers get things horribly wrong as they attempt to release a hit title in a highly competitive area of entertainment. After all, PlayStation gamers are also tempted by augmented reality masterpieces on mobile like Pokémon Go, plus leading McLuck social casino games online like Fishin’ Bear through a tablet device. The competition is fierce, resulting in some notable duds coming to the fore as developers struggle to nail every single project they work on.
While looking at the worst PlayStation games of all time is essentially subjective, some titles have certainly been cited as some of the worst products, be it online or in some respected gaming publications. Likewise, some titles go back years and were playable on former favorites like the PS1, while others were seen on the PlayStation 4 and didn’t go down well at all with gamers. Let’s take a brief look at just five of them below.
Hellboy: Asylum Seeker
A title PS1 gamers might recall, Hellboy: Asylum Seeker was based on the much-loved movie, but it didn’t deliver the same type of numbers as the movie production did. In fact, this particular game was renamed after initially being called Hellboy: Dogs of the Night on PC, only for it to be given a new title for the PlayStation port. It didn’t quite work, though. Not only did it feel like a lazy cash grab, but the puzzles were boring to tackle, the survival horror setting was dull, and the game’s combat was nothing special. Overall, Hellboy: Asylum Seeker was painfully bad.
London Cab Challenge
Clearly aiming to capitalize on the love of London’s taxis and their distinct designs, London Cab Challenge featured the familiar cabs in a racing scenario on the streets of England’s capital city. A game that initially caused plenty of hype and could’ve gone down a treat with gamers, it was a poor offering with bad graphics and blocky buildings. Overall, London Cab Challenge was a major disappointment.
Flowers Are Dead
If you purchased Flowers Are Dead after being drawn in by the game’s various marketing materials, then we feel your pain. Flowers Are Dead was terrible, with gamers describing it as nothing more than a classic cash grab. A title that clearly didn’t take long to create, it had a weak storyline and there was just nothing good about it.
Spawn: The Eternal
Yet another PS1 disaster, Spawn: The Eternal is game that was designed to coincide with the release of a movie. In the end, though, it was delayed and felt like a rushed release when it did eventually come to the fore. Fighting bad guys is meant to be fun, but the makers of Spawn: The Eternal did a great job of making it forgettable. Additionally, Spawn: The Eternal was meant to be filled with exploration to undertake, but there wasn’t much. All gamers had to do was win one-on-one battles against a selection of nasties, but with the title’s gameplay being so bad, it was a tiresome experience.
Bubsy 3D

A platformer some gamers warmed to, the vast majority of PlayStation players hated Bubsy 3D. From its disorientating camera to its weak graphics, it didn’t entertain mass audiences and was widely hammered by those who managed to sample it.
