Astro Bot Is One Of PlayStation’s ‘Most Exciting Recent Successes’ And An ‘Emerging IP,’ Says Hermen Hulst
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s CEO of Business Group, Hermen Hulst, has heaped praise on Team Asobi‘s Astro Bot during the company’s latest business segment meeting, describing it as an “emerging IP” and one of the “exciting” successes for PlayStation.
Speaking during the presentation, Hulst described the critically acclaimed platformer as one of PlayStation’s “most exciting recent successes.” He added, “Astro Bot was a smash hit, achieving universal acclaim among players and critics and sweeping industry award shows,” and described it as an “emerging IP,” indicating we haven’t seen the last of the series.

Astro Bot was released in September 2024 for PS5 and achieved critical and commercial success, not to mention picking up numerous Game of the Year Awards. Back in March, the game’s director revealed that Astro Bot went through 23 pitch iterations before the development team showcased it to executives at Sony.
