Surprise! Black Myth: Wukong Finally Has A Release Date For Xbox
It’s been over a year since Black Myth: Wukong was delayed for Xbox, and we’ve seen so many reports, rumours and bits of speculation about why it’s taken so long… and now suddenly, out of nowhere, it’s got an Xbox release date!
Black Myth: Wukong has an official Xbox release date of August 20th, 2025, launching for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Pre-orders will begin on June 18th, and the game will have a 20% discount from then until July 11th.

The timing of this announcement was so random — 3AM in the morning here in the UK — and it’s bizarre that it didn’t get saved for the Xbox Games Showcase… or at least one of the events happening during Summer Game Fest.
It’s also interesting that the Xbox release date marks exactly one year since the PS5 version launched on August 20th, 2024. That would suggest a timed deal has been in place for the past 12 months, which is what’s been rumoured / speculated (but not proven) by a few journalists along the way. However, the developer’s CEO also mentioned earlier this year that their team had been struggling with the demands of the Xbox Series S.
It doesn’t really matter anymore – we’re finally getting Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox! Bring on August 20th.
