“Our focus is getting the Epic Games Store on mobile to 1.0,” says Epic Games Store general manager Steve Allison.

On stage today at the State of Unreal 2025, Allison highlighted the importance of mobile in delivering a “world-class” experience to the Epic Games Store’s users.

Despite the company previously stating it had a target of 100m installs for the mobile Epic Games Store, it has reached 40m, with ambitions to grow to 70m this year and there being two “major” additions planned for the remainder of 2025.

Firstly, Epic web shops are planned to launch in July and will be made available to all developers. Those who use these web shops will keep 100% of net revenue on their first $1 million net revenue per game and per year. Beyond that sum, Epic will take a 12% revenue share.

Secondly, self-publishing tools will be introduced this Q4 to allow all developers to distribute their games, opening up the store to everyone.

Branching out

The Epic Games Store is already available globally on Android but its availability on iOS is currently limited to the EU. The store is expected to roll out on iOS in Brazil, the UK and Japan as new laws come into effect.

Currently, there are more than 70 games on the Epic Game Store with releases taking a “deliberate phased approach”. More titles are still being added as Epic gears up to opening its store to self-publishing.

“Delivering a great player experience means meeting players wherever they are, which is why mobile remains a key focus for us,” said Allison.

“We’ve already seen strong momentum on mobile.”

Epic also plans to revamp its multiplatform social features to allow PC and mobile players to connect with game-independent voice chat, text chat and parties later this year.

Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney also made an appearance during State of Unreal to celebrate industry revenue “shifting away from useless gatekeepers and middlemen”.
