The iPhone 17 may have a bigger screen, which means better gaming on Apple
Mobile gaming continues to gain traction as leading phone brands release bigger and better handsets. A new rumor suggests that the iPhone 17‘s screen may be larger than we expected, giving us more display real estate to play with.
Ross Young, founder of Display Search, claims in a (subscriber-only) post on X that the iPhone 17 will have a 6.3-inch screen size, larger than the iPhone 16’s 6.1-inch display, but matching the 16 Pro. That could make it a future contender for our guide to the best gaming iPhones, as the bigger the screen, the more space for games such as Honkai Star Rail and PUBG Mobile to occupy.
If the 6.3-inch rumors turn out to be true, then it appears the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro will be the same size, but fret not, the hardware of the Pro will give it a boost over the regular model and make it worth the bigger price tag.
Young also states the iPhone 17 Air will measure at 6.5 inches, making it an even more sizeable option, and the 17 Pro Max will likely be even more massive, if you want the biggest screen size you can get from Apple’s phone range. The Air is said to be Apple’s thinnest phone to date, which likely means it’ll be excellent to hold for long periods of time, like, say, playing the best mobile games wherever you are.
If you, like us, are a fan of playing games on your phone, you know that the bigger the screen, the better. However, this usually comes with the caveat of a heavier device or a chunky casing, making it less enjoyable to hold, as is the case with the Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro from our guide to the best gaming phones. With what we’re hearing about the 17 and 17 Air, that doesn’t look to be a problem anymore.
