One Month On, Oblivion Remastered Has A Pretty Low Completion Rate On Xbox

Just under a month ago, Bethesda shadow dropped Oblivion Remastered after what felt like an eternity of rumour and speculation, and we were here for it. The hype around launch was certainly real, with the game exploding in popularity shortly afterwards – but that hasn’t resulted in the majority of its user base blasting through the game’s main campaign, at least on Xbox.

Over the weekend, one post in the Oblivion subreddit got a lot of attention – one that showcased just 2.77% of Xbox players finishing the game’s main quest. That’s now climbed to just over 3% in the few days since, which is still a pretty low number of players getting to the end of Oblivion’s core storyline.

Having said that, there are lots of factors at play here. First of all this is a remaster, and many folks may have dipped back in just to check out the changes to see what’s what. Then, we’ve got an Xbox Game Pass launch to contend with as well (during a busy time), which blows the doors wide open to lots of casual Oblivion fans trying the game out. Adding to that, The Elder Scrolls IV is a chunky RPG, and game completion rates can be low across the board – particularly for longer and more complex titles.

Still, it’s intriguing to see this laid bare, and it’s also interesting that lots of folks have taken interest in this statistic. Are the game’s current issues proving to be a turn-off for some players? Who can really say, but we do hope that Bethesda & co. keep on improving Oblivion Remastered in the months to come.
