Rumour — Grand Theft Auto IV Remaster Could Launch In 2025

Rockstar Games insider Tez2 has claimed that a Grand Theft Auto IV Remaster could launch as early as this year for current-generation consoles.

Speaking on the GTA Forums, the insider was asked whether he’s heard anything about the long-rumoured GTA IV remaster, prompting the following response:

Someone at R* hinted at the IV port, and by now it should’ve gone up a year in development. We may end up seeing it drop later this year. And it’s one more reason, in addition to existing reasons, the LCPP mod was taken down. If they still follow their plan laid out from the pandemic days, they’ll do an MP3 port after IV. So that is an opportunity to do a bundle or a Definitive Edition. Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, and a Max Payne 3 port.

This isn’t the first time we’ve herds about a possible remaster of GTA IV. Back in 2022, Tez2 claimed that Rockstar had planned to release remasters of GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption, but opted against it due to the poor reception to Grand Theft Auto Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Kotaku followed up on this report, adding that Rockstar is busy working on GTA VI, which we now know won’t be out until next May.

Things have changed since then, as we did end up getting a remaster of Red Dead Redemption, so there is hope yet that GTA IV may still be on the cards. Keep in mind that Tez2’s comments are speculation and nothing official has been announced yet.
