While the deals and the stats of the gaming world are important, nothing would happen without the research, funding and, of course, development that goes into making a great game.
So here’s a collection of the most exciting new mobile games right now, the developers and publishers behind them, and why, exactly, they’ve made the cut.
Disney Solitaire
Delivering a Walt Disney spin on TriPeaks Solitaire, Disney Solitaire is the latest launch from SuperPlay after 16 months of work. With over 75 Disney IPs to choose from, this card game currently features faces from The Lion King, Moana, The Little Mermaid and more, plus unique power-ups and over 1,500 levels.
CEO and founder Gilad Almog informed us that Disney approached SuperPlay to suggest a collaboration.
TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge
Tribute Games’ TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge may have already made the move to mobile via Netflix, but it’s spent the past two years as an exclusive to subscribers. Now, the beat ‘em up is available to everyone on iOS and Android for a one-time fee, expanding the arcade-style combat to even more audiences.
The premium version has been published by Playdigious.
Banana Scale Puzzle
Bananas come in all shapes and sizes – at least in Udo Games’ Banana Scale Puzzle. Whether pirates, scuba divers or moustachio’d gentlemen, each type of banana has its own distinct size which players can stack to match a variety of objects – from rubber ducks to clocktowers.
Jetpack Joyride Racing
Swapping out the jetpack for multiplayer racing, Halfbrick Studios has brought its classic mobile IP Jetpack Joyride back in a new form. Currently in its closed beta phase, Jetpack Joyride Racing is giving select players the chance to drive, drift and blast ahead to victory two months before global launch.
Grunt Rush: Battle and Conquer
Savvy Games Group subsidiary Steer Studios has released its debut title Grunt Rush: Battle and Conquer after one year in soft launch.
A hybrdicasual game blending arcade and strategy genres that thrusts players straight onto the battlefield, its focus is on offline combat rather than PvP, but there’s no shortage of armies or battlefields to dominate.
We spoke with Steer Studios CEO Yannick Theler about the game’s development journey and launch here.
Hello Kitty Friends
LINE Games and Super Awesome have soft-launched a match-3 Hello Kitty game in the Philippines and Canada called Hello Kitty Friends Match, with classic Sanrio characters like My Melody, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll and of course Hello Kitty herself in tow.
