Savvy Games Group and HP have launched the GameOn GameJam in Saudi Arabia.
The initiative will challenge developers to tackle desertification through a climate action-themed competition blending gaming and sustainability.
Hosted by HP Gaming Garage in Saudi Arabia, developers are invited to create games around the theme of climate action before applications close on May 31st, with the top 10 finalists announced on June 15th.
These finalists will participate in online mentoring sessions from June 15th to July 15th, leading up to game presentations in Riyadh during the last week of July.
The top three teams will then join the Savvy Incubator program in September 2025. Participants can register their interest from the official website.
Eligibility criteria
HP said that participants must be passionate gamers or programmers aged 18 and above. Teams should consist of two to four members, with one team leader and at least 50% of the team being Saudi nationals.
Moreover, all team members are required to complete at least one course on HP Gaming Garage via edX and submit a certificate of completion.
Savvy encouraged aspiring game creators to apply in a LinkedIn post, stating that they will benefit from mentorship and receive expert coaching before competing in the grand finals.
The Game Jam comes after Savvy and HP penned an MoU in February to support gaming and esports education in Saudi Arabia.
Through the partnership, Savvy will back HP’s Gaming Garage, Esports Management, and Game Development Academy by working with universities and expanding access to educational content.
