Gorgeously animated fan tribute to Super Mario Bros. in the works

Every single day the internet is flooded with tributes to Mario from fans across the world. There are literally thousands of creations out there, with drawings, apparel, songs and so much more popping up far and wide. There’s some really amazing stuff to be found, and one of those projects just recently caught my eye.

Digital artist/animator Brintcart has been inspired to create a Super Mario animated short film that is influenced by 1980s/90s anime (and by the looks of it, Super Mario Bros. 2!). The video above was released to announce the project, and it gives a glimpse into the work and care that’s being put into this project. Without a doubt, you can see that this is a real labor of love with some serious skill behind it.

We don’t quite know when this short is going to release, but we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on its progress. For now, you can check out some teaser clips from the animation below, and make sure to follow along with the film’s progress via Brintcart’s various social platforms.
