Monolith Soft says will “never be satisfied with the status quo”
Monolith Soft first burst onto the scene in 2002 with Xenosaga Episode I, which certainly made a mark in the industry. From that point, the developer continued to grow in terms of game scope and recognition. While that early work is incredibly important, the studio found a whole new life once it got scooped up by Nintendo in 2007, and they’ve been climbing higher and higher ever since.
Somehow, it seems Monolith Soft continues to create bigger and better games with each passing release, which is quite an achievement. The studio builds absolutely ginormous RPGs that manage to outdo their last efforts, and this appears to be a core tenant of the company that continues to push them to this day.
We hear more about this drive from Hirohide Sugiura, the company’s co-founder and representative director, in an official Monolith Soft company brochure. In one snippet of the brochure, Sugiura makes it very clear that the studio constantly sets out to build more impressive works with each release.
“Compared to when the company was established in 1999, the number of employees has increased considerably, we now have three development centers, and we have worked on many large-scale titles. However, I don’t think that success or achievements are enough. As long as Monolith Soft exists, we will never be satisfied with the status quo and will always strive for higher quality.”
